This is the process by which it is possible to remove broken vessels, commonly known as thread veins, from the face, lgs and body.
These vessels often appear on the surface of the skin as visably widened, sometimes twisted capillaries. They appear in a network as fan likeflares or in knots. They are purple/red in colouur painless but vey obvious and difficult to conceal. These capillaries can be caused by a number of influences, but they are certainly exacerbated by prolonged standing, pregnancy, trauma or by genetic predisposition. In a majority of cases once they have appeaed they will not disappear and may indeed get worse if they remain untreated.
These incompetant vessels are in essence tubes filled with blood. By fusing the vessel walls together using an injection the blood which flows through them is diverted and the the veins collapse and are broken down by the bodys own healing process. The substance used to fuse these vessels is called a sclerosing agent and it is injected into the vein using a very small needle.
Normally a treatment session will last about half an hour and usually all veins can be treated in this time. You will have to return for follow up treatments and this will be advised at your initial consultation. Once the vessels have gone they will not reappear. New vessels maybe generated but these can be cleared up with further treatment if necessary, usually on a yearly or bi-yearly basis.
After the treatment session the veins themselves look reddened and a little more obvious than normal but over the following weeks, as they start to fuse and breakdown, this redness will fade. Eventually,as the treatment process continues, they will disappear altogether.
